3rd Period Sonnet on Love

     Love Is …

Love is not selfish, it does not take pride
As time passes by, love will always stand
If love is true, you will stand by their side
Love is not just marked by a wedding band
Love takes honesty, respect, and some time
You have to deal with the bad and the good
Love is more than just a sweet, heart-felt rhyme
Even if all else fails, love has still stood
With love you can overcome anything
It is love that consumes your heart and soul
And you will give that person everything
Without that person you will not be whole
In your heart, love is like a growing seed
So all in all love is what we all need

This is a Shakespearean sonnet with a rhyme scheme of abab cdcd efef gg composed by students in my 3rd period English IV Honors class.

3rd Period Sonnet on Thanksgiving

     Ghetto Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving with your sweet potato pie
Everyone is happy with no worry
Family chillin’ outside swatting the flies
Snatching the food from my cousin Murray
Trying to grab his food in a hurry
His crumbs left a feast for the little mice
The food’s so good my vision is blurry
The setting on the table was so nice
But we forgot to say grace to our Christ
Cherry pie with whipped cream was so tasty
But the turkey was burnt; so was the rice
Momma was to make it really hasty
We sat on the porch eating our dinner
After today, we have to get thinner.

This is a Spenserian sonnet with a rhyme scheme of abab bcbc cdcd ee composed by students in my 3rd period English IV Honors class.
